Since our launch, we’ve written about politics, policy, and tech from the position of a government relations startup. This year has been an education in how to build a company, a product, and most importantly, how to solve real world problems and create value.
In GR and business it’s critical to create an exponential ROI for your organization or client. People can only do so much, so technology is the ultimate tool to increase efficiencies and unfortunately GR is woefully behind the curve.
We founded Terrapin on the idea of changing the world by combining government relations and technology. Coupled with our knowledge and experience in the field, we conducted surveys, beta tests, and designed a prototype of our first product, Upstream. All of this has taken much longer than expected and the economy has considerably weakened in this time frame, so now we look to companies that were able to do this successfully.
A salient example that inspires us is the current state of blockchain and cryptocurrency. To many this may seem like an odd choice given recent events. However, what is particularly interesting here is that although there has been well documented and public problems, there continue to be new and innovative developments to further make the case that this area is not going anywhere. Because of that there should still be much optimism over the future and what is to come. Our hope is now that there has been around for a few years and add in what we hope will come a reasoned government approach, that it will provide some stability and oversight to a once wholly unregulated industry. With that, a better, more advanced system will emerge.
Take the dot-com bubble. At the time, some made statements that ecommerce was nothing more than a pipe dream, be with even Amazon struggling. But now, they are one of the largest, most innovative companies in the world. While we can still order books from Amazon, its services expand far beyond what many of us (including me) would be remiss to give up the everyday benefits enjoyed from having Prime delivery, Whole Foods brands, and AWS.
So, what’s the tie-in for Terrapin and our clients? We continue to look at the government relations space as one that is ripe for innovation. Even though public opinion of the government, its leaders, and those that lobby it are extremely low, we’re standing at an inflection point and great opportunity exists to innovate and change that reality for the better.
With that, we designed Upstream to help organizations build their government relations at scale so they can keep up with demands on modern business and policy issues. Today, we’re excited to share an opportunity to reserve a spot to participate in testing our beta version. Are you ready to take GR to the next level? If this sounds like something you need, sign up here to reserve your spot now!
